Laying Out a Webpage with Tables


Exercise - Class 4 Exercise 2

  • Start a new Document
  • Give it a Title : (Brian's Garden)– this is the title in the <head>
  • Insert a table with 3 rows and 1 column and a width of 800 px
  • Then in the 2nd row insert a table with 1 row and 2 columns
  • In the top cell of the 1st table put a background color and type your “Header” information, center, bold, change font all of that stuff with a style
  • In the left hand column of your inner table, type a list of your “Menu” names
  • In the right hand column of your inner table type your “content” for the page.
  • In the bottom cell of the outer table type your “footer” information
  • Add background color, font changes, etc. as you choose.
  • You may have to set column widths to get it to “look right”
  • The goals it to make a simple but attractive and functional looking webpage that has a standard layout and look.
  • When you are done you can save it and view it locally, you should also put it up on the web server and view it with both Firefox and IE.
