File Management Skills

INTRODUCTION

It is very important that you have a very strong understanding of how to create, rename, move and delete files BEFORE you take the Dreamweaver 1 class. It has been a very common occurance in the Dreamweaver 1 course for the instructor to have to take an inappropriate amount of time to help students with these skills that are pre-requisites. This causes the other students to lose the instruction time in the topics they paid for. The following test will help you identify whether you need further training in File Management before you take the Dreamweaver class.

TEST

1. Go to My Documents
2. Create a folder with your own name and Winter10 (no spaces).
3. Open Microsoft Word.
4. Create a new file called Test.doc in the folder with your Name.
5. Type your name in the file.
6. Close the file, but not the program.
7. Create another file called Test 2.doc (with a space) in your folder.
8. Type "This is a test" in the file.
9. Save and close the file.
10. Go to your folder
11. Take the space out of the file name of Test 2.doc.
